New features such as protocol handler, improved discovery and multiple launchers allow for quicker and simpler privileged account management in the latest release of Secret Server.
Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 16, 2013
Thycotic Software, makers of enterprise IT security solutions, released the latest version of Secret Server 8.4, a web-based privileged account management tool and password repository for IT teams across the globe. Secret Server 8.4 allows for a more streamlined discovery of service accounts, multiple platform launchers within templates and several other features designed to help make managing privileged accounts and their passwords quick and seamless.
Service account management received a boost of features in Secret Server. Now users can utilize added support for discovery of service accounts running Scheduled Tasks and IIS Application Pools. These service accounts will automatically be linked to newly discovered dependencies, allowing users faster control of these accounts and their credentials.
The Secret Server Launcher can now be optionally run using a Protocol Handler instead of Microsoft ClickOnce. This change creates added benefits in virtualized environments where ClickOnce does not function properly.
Administrators can also use more than one launcher on a Secret. If the same credential is used to access multiple systems or tools, having multiple launchers within a secret can save users time and improve workflow productivity.
“Enhanced service account discovery means more automation for our users,” says Ben Yoder, product manager at Thycotic Software. This means teams can secure privileged accounts faster, improving security immediately.”
