Saks Fifth Avenue will close its Southampton location Saturday, its parent company announced Tuesday.
Saks Inc. chief executive Steve Sadove said in a statement that shuttering the Southampton location "is consistent with our strategy of deploying resources in productive stores and closing underperforming stores, when feasible."
The Southampton store, which at 15,000 square feet is the smallest in the chain, employs about 35 associates, the company's statement said. All affected associates will be offered transfer opportunities or separation packages, according to the statement.
In the same statement, the company also announced that it will close its Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH outlet store in Reno/Sparks, Nev., a 28,000-square-foot store that employs about 20 associates.
So far this year, Saks has closed stores in Portland, Ore., San Diego, Calif., Charleston, S.C., and Plano, Texas. The Saks Fifth Avenue location in Mission Viejo, Calif., is scheduled to close later this month.
