Here are six people appointed to boards on Long Island recently. From left:

Dawn Strain has been appointed chairperson of the advisory board of the Long Island chapter of Best Buddies, an organization that provides programs and services to the disabled in schools and facilities. She is founder and president of DJS Events in Bethpage and lives in Bayside.
E. Christopher Murray has been named president of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Murray is an attorney at the Uniondale firm of Ruskin Moscou Faltischek and lives in Stony Brook.

Ed Donnelly has been appointed business valuation committee chairman by the New York State Society of CPAs. The Islip resident has his own accounting practice specializing in forensic accounting.
Debbi Honorof has joined the board of directors of the Huntington Arts Council. She is director of marketing and communications for Hofstra University Continuing Education and lives in Port Washington.
Sandy Johnson has been elected president of the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women. The Merrick resident has her own accounting firm.

Michael Finland has joined the board of directors at the Long Island Crisis Center. The Lake Grove resident is the civilian manager at the Suffolk County Police Department.
