State officials will be in three local communities this week to assist homeowners and business people harmed by superstorm Sandy. The Cuomo administration recently won approval for its plan to use federal Community Block Grants to aid Sandy victims. Those seeking assistance must apply to the state.

Representatives of the Department of Financial Services will be in a Mobile Command Center at 1101 Sunrise Hwy. in Copiague on Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  On Friday, they will be at Wheatley Plaza, located on Glen Cove Road at Northern Boulevard in Greenvale, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. And on Saturday, they will be at 2754 Long Beach Rd. in Oceanside, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Aid applications are also being accepted at nysandyhelp.ny.gov.
