The Suffolk County Legislature has appointed members to its Long Island Power Authority Legislative Oversight Committee.
And the Legislature has set the committee’s first meeting, to be held at 4 p.m. on March 2 at the William H. Rogers Building in Hauppauge.
Among the topics under discussion will be the recent disclosure that LIPA overcharged ratepayers $231 million.
The new committee members are former Long Island Lighting Co. (LIPA’s prececessor) employees Peter Schlussler and Matthew Cordaro (above left); energy experts Irving Like and Sheldon Sackstein; civic leader Fred Gorman; and the county legislature’s energy specialist, Joe Schroeder.
The committee will hold at least four public hearings, two in the west end and two on the
East End and issue a written report before the end of 2011.
