2013 Comic Con: Comic book-inspired video games
Every year, developers release a new crop of video games based on superhero comic books, movies, toys and television programs, and this year is no exception. With the 2013 Comic Convention in San Diego set to kick off July 18, we present a list of current and upcoming superhero-based games.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is the latest fighting game from Mortal Kombat veterans Netherrealm Studios. The game features a cast of more than 24 DC Comics heroes and villains battling through iconic comic book locations such as Metropolis and Wayne Manor.
TMNT: Out of the Shadows features the four classic ninja turtles with new, edgier looks in a four-player, co-op game exclusively available via download.
Batman Arkham Origins is the highly anticipated prequel to the Batman: Arkham Asylum series. The game follows a young and less-experienced Batman fighting for his life against several deadly assassins.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes is the latest game based on the popular Lego building toys. The game lets players take control, either by themselves or with a friend, of Lego-sized versions of their favorite heroes and villains.
The Wolf Among Us is based on the popular comic series "Fables." It's being developed by Telltale Games, which also created adventure role-playing game The Walking Dead.
In the Deadpool video game, players take on the role of Marvel's famous "Merc with a mouth" as they shoot and slash their way through enemies. The game was released in June 2013.
The Walking Dead: 400 Days is the follow-up to Telltale's smash hit adventure game The Walking Dead. It follows five new characters with intertwining paths, and the action will affect players' choices in the upcoming sequel.
Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play Massively Multiplayer RPG in which players choose a character class and team up with others online to defeat enemies and improve their hero.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, based on AMC television series "The Walking Dead," follows brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon in a prequel to the show.
