When it comes to apps, some take up very little space and others a lot. If you are running out of storage room on your iPad or iPhone, you may want to start deleting apps you seldom or never use. Here's how to check up on and organize your apps.
1 To determine how much storage space is unused on your Apple device, tap Settings, then General, then About. "Available" indicates your free space. To determine how much space each app uses, tap Settings, then General, then Usage.
2 Tap "Show all apps" for a list of apps ordered by the amount of space each consumes, from largest to smallest amount. If you see an app that you are sure you no longer want, simply tap on its name. On the screen that appears, press the Delete App button to remove it.
3 If you want to check an app before deleting it, but have downloaded so many that their icons are in crazy quilt order and a particular one is hard to locate, it may be time to alphabetize your apps. Go to Settings, then General, then Reset and click "Reset Home Screen Layout." Downloaded apps will now appear in alphabetical order.
