Need a reason to purchase a PlayStation Vita? Sackboy's got you covered with "LittleBigPlanet PS Vita."
I must admit: I was never drawn to owning the high-definition mobile device. Most game sessions ended rather quickly and had me clamoring for a big screen due to the amount of detail squished into the handheld's screen.
But one play through with "LBP Vita" sent this Warp Piper back to the days when I first experienced "Tetris" on the Nintendo Gameboy. I rarely mention other game titles or companies, but for any game to be compared to "Tetris" speaks volumes.
"LBP Vita" is like a paint brush with an endless supply of colors and canvas. All the goodies of level creation from its console predecessors can be used; but now add touchscreen, camera and microphone, all within the digital artist's hands, and a video gaming Picasso is born. The ability to create the next best level is time-consuming and a bit too complex, but the work effort has its rewards each time revisited and shared.
Speaking of work effort, the developers did a great job finding ways to build exciting levels for Sackboy to jump and swing through using the Vita's technology. Spring Sacky to the air with a slide of a finger and pop out obstacles from behind the Vita on the trackpad for a new dimension in platforming games that puts "LBP Vita" above the competition.
Even boss battles will force players to rethink strategy and overcome challenges. The game plays like a roller coaster ride between your hands and its carnival-themed action is both amusing and entertaining.
"LBP Vita" is hands down the most fun and interactive game on any mobile device. Put down the cell phone apps and dive into a world of creation and imagination that takes full advantage of Sony's Vita hardware across six themes and more than forty-five new story levels.
"LBP Vita" arrives in stores on Sept. 18. A Vita bundle will also be available, and Sony has at least one customer eyeing it in yours truly.
