Nintendo is finally catching up to the other next-gen console manufacturers, as it will reportedly add Netflix-streaming capabilities to the Wii in early spring.
Wii owners with a broadband connection and a Netflix membership of at least $9 a month will be able to watch Netflix's huge digital database of movies, TV shows and documentaries at no extra charge.
Like the PS3, a special Netflix "instant-streaming" disc will be required for the Wii. Users will be able to add movies to their streaming cue from either a computer or from the Wii itself, much like the PS3 and Xbox 360 interface.
The one downside for the Wii is that the console can't process anything above 480p. Which is fine for most who just see the Wii Netflix as an added bonus to an already versatile machine.
