Whether it is your first convention or you a yearly veteran, it pays to be prepared when going to the New York Comic-Con. Proper planning can make things easier so that the only thing you'll have to worry about is witnessing an unpleasant cosplay wardrobe malfunction from some not-so-super men.

Here is some of the items worth tossing into your New York Comic-Con bag:

Bottled Water - Stay hydrated while roaming through the dense crowds.

Snacks - Protein bars are the best option to keep your energy up and save money.

Digital Camera - Everyone seems to have a cell phone with a camera these days but you will want to make sure that your photos with cosplayers will come out right the first time. Make sure Batman and Bane look good with you on your Facebook wall.

Backing Boards - Help keep those new comic book purchases in mint condition.

Book - If you are hoping to get a popular guest's autograph, you're going to have plenty of time to catch up on some reading while waiting. I recommend Pablo Hidalgo's "The Essential Reader's Companion" for Star Wars fans who would like to know just what publications would best suit their continued interest in a galaxy far, far away.

PS Vita/Nintendo 3DS - Catch up on some handheld gaming and try some local co-op with new friends. I recommend the new "Spy Hunter" game by Warner Brothers Interactive. The game blends retro arcade racing with all new explosive action. Don't forget headphones!

Collectibles - Bring any items you would like to be signed and make room for new ones to bring home.

Deodorant - Trust me, if not for yourself then for the person waiting on line near you. You'll be glad you added a few travel sized bottles of AXE body spray.
