Michael Hanley of Kings Park has been named 2010 Person of the Year by the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce based on his dedication and service to the local community. Hanley is a member of the chamber’s board of directors and is managing partner of Smithtown-based accounting firm Merl & Hanley, LLP, which he founded in 2004. He is also founder and president of the Irish Business Network in Smithtown and is president of the Smithtown-Kings Park Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Neil E. Strerrer of Long Beach has received the 2010 Community Service Award from the Long Island Board of Realtors (LIBOR) based on his achievements in the field. Sterrer is owner of Long Beach-based Sterrer Realty and is a state-certified residential real estate appraiser, mortgage broker and notary public. He has served as LIBOR director, co-chair of the Long Beach/Island Park Brokers Council, vice president of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and a trustee of the Long Beach Historical Society.
Robert Callaghan of Selden has received the 2010 Public Relations Award from the New York State Association of Health Care Providers’ (HCP) Long Island Chapter based on his achievements in the field. Callaghan — who chairs the chapter’s Public Relations Committee — has been an independent consultant since 2007 and is the former director of New York Nursing Care, a directory and guide to local nursing care facilities. He is also a board member of the HCP’s state association as well as its Long Island chapter.
