The way small businesses promote their services on Twitter is, well, not to do too much promoting. The key, say those in the know, is to engage followers and point them to helpful resources. (And, yes, the occasional promo is OK.)
Here are some examples from the past couple of days that are in that “attraction not promotion” spirit, as well as that of the holiday season:
-- MaryAnn Jones, a certified health coach known on Twitter as @thrivemanhasset told her followers Wednesday: “I am available all day for questions. Let me know how I can help you get through the rest of 2010.”
-- All Aluminum Gutters in West Babylon, aka @AllAlumGutters, asked, “Is Your Roof Ready for Santa?” and then provided a link to an article on how to get your roof ready for bad weather, as well as for the red-suited one.
-- Faber Orthodonitcs in Melville, @FaberOrtho, asked: “Where is everyone going for Christmas Eve? Best location gets a FaberOrtho visor!! Let us know by posting on our FB page!”
-- Long Island School of Guitar, @LIGuitarSchool, wrote: “Guitar Holiday Tip, go grab your guitar and turn on the radio with all that Holiday music on and try to transcribe what you hear!”
