Two Long Island startups have been selected to receive a total of about $10,000 worth of free brand and marketing help from Smithtown-based consulting firm Communication Strategy Group.
Savvy Hires, a Westbury-based recruitment firm for internship programs, and caretraxx, a provider of mobile patient information based out of Huntington, were selected from about a dozen companies that applied for the opportunity. Each company is in a LaunchPad location and will get one-on-one help.
“It’s somewhere north of 60 man hours of time that’s involved in something like this,” said Arthur Germain, principal and “chief brandteller” for Communication Strategy Group. Savvy Hires will receive aid in developing a logo and other visual branding, and caretraxx will get help in developing a marketing strategy meant to “differentiate themselves in a crowded marketplace,” Germain said.
Phil Rugile, director of LaunchPad’s Huntington location, said branding is an important area that many startups struggle with due to lack of experience or time.
“I’ve seen some startups that are very talented people and their product was fabulous, but what they presented on their website was absolutely horrible,” he said. “This is a core piece of a business plan or a strategy that has to be done at some point.”
Started in Mineola in 2013, LaunchPad, a co-working space for startups, now has six locations on Long Island.
