The sign is gone, but the famous Wahlberg family, as in Mark, Donnie and other relatives, still plans to open a burger restaurant in Farmingdale on the site of the former Spartan Diner, one of the property owners confirmed Thursday.

“We are still under contract,” said Peter Patsalos. “They still are going to open.”

But he refused to say why the sign announcing that Wahlburgers was “coming soon” has disappeared.

Actor Mark Wahlberg’s movie credits include “Boogie Nights,” “The Fighter” and a remake of the “Planet of the Apes.” He was an executive producer of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”

The other family members involved in the chain include his brother Donnie, who is a member of the boy band New Kids on the Block and is married to TV personality Jenny McCarthy; his brother Paul, who is a chef, and their mother, Alma.

The menu at the original Hingham, Massachusetts, Wahlburgers location includes a variety of burgers. The signature sandwich features a half-pound patty with tomato jam, bacon, Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms. A Coney Island location opened last year.
