Workshops to help women, minority business owners

The Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce is holding a series of workshops to train more business owners to seek New York State certification as minority- and women-owned business enterprises.

The workshops will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, 21 and 28 at the Baldwin Public Library, 2385 Grand Ave. Charlene Thompson of Baldwin-based Thompson Economic Development Services will be the instructor.

For-profit businesses at least a year old and at least 51 percent owned by a woman or a minority are eligible to apply for certification.
