Carlos Gonzalez hits grand slam in top of 8th to lead Rockies past Nationals

Drew Storen allowed a go-ahead grand slam by Carlos Gonzalez in the eighth inning as the Colorado Rockies came back from a four-run deficit to beat the Nationals, 5-4, last night in Washington.

With the Nationals leading 4-1, two outs and a runner on first in the eighth, Jose Reyes and Nolan Arenado singled to load the bases for Gonzalez, who drove a 1-and-0 pitch into the Washington bullpen. It was the first time in 15 games since June 24 that Storen gave up a run.

Cubs 7, Giants 3: Kyle Schwarber had two RBIs to back Jon Lester (7-8) for host Chicago.

Pirates 5, Dodgers 4: Pedro Alvarez lined a bases-loaded single over a five-man infield in the 10th for host Pittsburgh. The Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw had his scoreless-innings streak end at 37 when Gregory Polanco hit his first pitch for a home run.

Cardinals 6, Brewers 0: Randal Grichuk hit a three-run homer to cap a six-run fifth for visiting St. Louis.

Diamondbacks 2, Reds 0: Chase Anderson allowed four hits in seven innings and Welington Castillo homered for host Arizona.

Angels 8, Orioles 4: Mike Trout homered on his birthday for the third time in the last four years and Chris Iannetta delivered a two-run double for host Los Angeles. Trout, who turned 24, hit his major league-leading 33rd homer. Pinch hitter C.J. Cron hit a 456-foot two-run homer for the Angels.

Mariners 4, Rangers 3: Nelson Cruz, who hit No. 32, and Robinson Cano slammed consecutive home runs off Cole Hamels to start the sixth for host Seattle.

Royals 3, White Sox 2: Edinson Volquez (11-6) pitched seven innings and Lorenzo Cain doubled home the go-ahead run in the sixth for host Kansas City.

Red Sox 7, Tigers 2: David Ortiz homered and Hanley Ramirez and Xander Bogaerts each added a two-run double for visiting Boston. Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli was traded to the Rangers for a player to be named or cash.

Twins 10, Indians 9: Torii Hunter's ninth-inning homer ended visiting Minnesota's losing streak at five games.

A's 3, Astros 1: Sonny Gray (12-4) outpitched Dallas Keuchel (13-6) and Danny Valencia homered for host Oakland.

Bourn, Swisher dealt

The Braves reacquired outfielder Michael Bourn and also landed outfielder Nick Swisher, sending third baseman Chris Johnson to the Indians.-- AP
