Automakers are playing up the holiday with more than a few deals. With that in mind, Cars.com dug around to find the best discounts -- generally anything better than 10 percent of the MSRP -- among major automakers on a national scale.
Cars.com made sure not to include "cash value" bonuses that place a monetary value on free equipment such as better wheels. Check your local dealership for specifics and click here to see the latest review of these vehicles.
2013 Ford Focus
Buy a 2013 Focus SE or Titanium by July 8 and Ford will knock $2,250 to $3,250 off the tag. The automaker will also combine $500 with discount financing of zero to 6.9%
The Taurus has boatloads of discounts: $3,500 to $4,250 off a 2013 Taurus SEL, Limited or SHO. Alternatively, the automaker also pairs $750 to $1,750 with discount financing of zero to 6.9%. A few 2014s are hitting Cars.com national inventory, and Ford offers $1,500 or discount financing on those, too. The program for both model years runs through July 8.
2013 Ford F-Series
Pickup truck shoppers can wrangle $2,000 to $3,500 off the popular F-150 (Raptor excluded), while the F-Series Super Duty has $2,500 to $4,500. Either grade also pairs $1,000 with discount financing of zero to 6.9%. The deals run through July 8.
The family-friendly Flex, meanwhile, has $3,000 to $3,500 off on 2013 models or $1,500 to $2,000 off 2014s. Both model years pair discount financing of zero to 6.9% with cash incentives: $1,000 to $1,500 off 2013s or $500 off 2014s. The program ends after July 8.
2013 Ford Expedition
Need to tow a new boat to the lake house? The Expedition SUV still comes with $4,000 off, or $500 plus discount financing (zero to 6.9%). The deal sails away after July 8.
2013 Ford Edge
Ford also knocks $2,500 off the 2013 Edge crossover or pairs $1,000 to $1,500 with discount financing of zero to 6.9%. The deal runs through July 8.
2013 Ford Mustang V-6 and GT
Celebrate Americana with the 2013 Ford Mustang V-6 and GT, which have $2,500 to $3,000 off or discount financing of zero to 6.9% plus $500 to $1,500. Alas, the deals exclude the Boss 302 and Shelby GT500, and they screech away after July 8.
2013 Chrysler and Dodge midsize sedans
Chrysler's steep discounts on midsize sedans continue. Through July 8, the automaker will knock $3,500 off up-level versions of the 2013 200 sedan or $3,000 off all versions of the 200's 2013 Dodge Avenger sibling. Both cars also have discount financing of zero to 6.9%, but the 200 combines that with $1,000 off. Those remain the best deals by a wide margin among popular midsize cars.
2013 Ram 2500
Truck buyers can get $3,000 off a Ram 2500 (excluding the chassis cab) or $1,000 plus discount financing of zero to 6.9%. The deal runs through July 8.
It wouldn't be the Fourth of July without a sale on Jeep's affordable 2013 Patriot SUV, which gets $2,000 off or discount financing of zero to 6.9% plus $1,000. The 2014 Patriot, meanwhile, has $500 off or discount financing. The flag falls on both deals after July 8.
2013 Acura ILX Hybrid
Acura ponied up $2,000 in dealer cash (meaning it's up to the dealer — and your negotiating skills — to secure all of that) for the slow-selling 2013 ILX Hybrid. That's in addition to discount financing from 0.9% to 1.9%. The incentives run through July 8.
Honda usually avoids factory cash discounts. The automaker's major holiday weekend offers encompass discount financing as low as 0.9% on the Accord, Civic, Crosstour, CR-V, Fit, Pilot and Ridgeline, spokeswoman Robyn Eagles told Cars.com.
2013 Nissan Quest
Nissan's "Free to Choose" Fourth of July sale includes cash offers on a number of models. Among them is $2,500 off a 2013 Nissan Quest or discount financing as low as 0% plus $500 off. The offer ends Aug. 5.
2013 Nissan Rogue
Nissan is taking $2,000 to $2,500 in cash off the aging 2013 Rogue SUV or $500 plus financing as low as 0%. The offer ends Aug. 5.
Lexus, Scion and Toyota
Tundra shoppers can reap $2,500 to $2,750 off the pickup truck. Toyota also pairs $1,000 off with discount financing of zero to 0.9%. Apart from that, national offers from Toyota are modest. Lexus, like most other luxury brands, has a number of lease and finance offers but few cash-off deals. And Scion's "Pure Price" no-haggle program means minimal pricing deals.
Hyundai and Kia
Kia has a Great American Holiday sales event, spokesman Mike Ofiara said, but we found few national cash deals beyond $1,000 going on right now. Similarly, Hyundai's current offers knock only modest chunks off retail prices.
