The best electric, hybrid and green cars of 2015

The best green cars in 2015 include the Toyota Prius, Honda Civic, Smart Fortwo and a crop of other environmentally friendly vehicles from major automakers across the world.

The top cars come from GreenerCars.org, which is operated by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). A "Green Score" is reached by analyzing fuel economy and emissions reported to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, materials used to make and manufacture the cars, and "end-of-life" effects of disposal and recycling.

There are plenty of reasons to buy an environmentally friendly vehicle: Most leave little to no carbon footprints from their tailpipes, and some include thousands of dollars in federal and local tax credits and incentives. Check out our full list below if you're looking to buy a green car in 2015.
