With winter arriving soon, it's time to think about how to get around Long Island with snow and ice as part of your regular driving during the coming months.
Consumer Reports asked its respondents for the best models to drive in snowy conditions, and here's the Top 10 list for 2012 to 2015 models.
10. Ford Expedition
Ford's Expedition SUV was picked as one of the 10 best cars to drive in snowy conditions by Consumer Reports based on its ratings.
9. Toyota 4Runner
Toyota's 4Runner was picked the ninth-best wagon or SUV to drive in snowy conditions by Consumer Reports, with the car faring well with off-roading.
8. Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee was tabbed as the eighth-best wagon or SUV to drive in snowy weather by Consumer Reports, offering what the magazine described as an overall "supple, controlled ride."
7. Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon
Chevrolet's Tahoe and GMC Yukon were rated the seventh-best wagons or SUVs to drive in snowy weather by Consumer Reports, and both offer third-row seating.
6. Jeep Wrangler
Jeep's Wrangler performs well in off-road conditions, and also is one of the better cars for snowy weather, according to Consumer Reports, which ranked the model sixth among wagons and SUVs.
5. Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL
The Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon XL was picked as the fifth-best wagon or SUV by Consumer Reports to drive in snowy weather, with a large vehicle that can carry up to seven passengers in wintry conditions.
4. Audi Q5
Audi's Q5, which Consumer Reports says performs well driving-wise as an SUV as one of the model's regular sedans, ranked fourth among wagons and SUVs ranked by the publication for driving in snowy conditions.
3. Subaru Forester
Subaru's small SUV, the Forester, ranked third among Consumer Reports vehicles for driving in snowy conditions, with the manufacturer earning the top three spots in the ratings. The Forester comes with all-wheel drive, and more interior room than the other models on the list.
2. Subaru Crosstrek
The Subaru Crosstrek, an updated version of the old Impreza, offers drivers a bit more clearance to maneuver through deeper snow without being a big and bulky SUV. It was picked as the second-best wagon or SUV for driving in wintry conditions by Consumer Reports.

Subaru's Outback wagon was picked the best wagon or SUV to drive in snowy weather by Consumer Reports, and the standard all-wheel drive allows a driver to have traction in wintry conditions.
