Atlantic Auto Group, the largest auto dealership group on Long Island, has completed the roughly $27 million relocation of a Lexus dealership to Farmingdale.
Located at 2040-2090 Broadhollow Rd., the new dealership opened earlier this month and replaces Atlantic Auto’s longtime Lexus location in Massapequa. Atlantic Auto plans to turn the Massapequa site, which it has owned for more than 25 years, into a dealership for pre-owned vehicles.
“The Massapequa location was too small for what we were trying to do,” said Michael Brown, co-owner of Atlantic Auto, which has 22 dealerships on Long Island.
Farmingdale also gives the dealer greater access to Huntington and other North Shore communities, he said. “It’s just very hard to serve people in the middle or on the North Shore when you’re on one shore on the Island,” Brown said.
The new dealership, on the former site of a gun store and furniture outlet, is about 65,000 square feet and features an auto service center, an amenity that was 4 miles away from the former Massapequa dealership.
Brown said the Lexus relocation project has been in the works for more than seven years. The new dealership will employ around 80 workers.
