On the heels of announcing the 2014 Mercedes S-Class, the company also recently unveiled a newer, more performance-enhanced variant of its flagship sedan. Here's a look at the new Mercedes S63 AMG 4Matic.
Three driving modes are available to choose the behavior of your S63: Comfort, Sport or Manual. The car comes equipped with an AMG-tuned seven-speed automatic transmission with standard all-wheel drive.
The S63 has a 12.3-inch display screen, which has replaced gauges in the S-Class, and features exclusive AMG-style graphics and special AMG content that focuses on driving performance and engine information.
Special AMG sport seats are standard in the S63, and unique milled metal trim adorns the instrument panel and doors.
The new S63 AMG is 220 pounds lighter than the outgoing one, thanks to efforts by Mercedes-Benz to curb unnecessary mass.
The S63 AMG features a lithium-ion starter battery unit instead of the traditional 12-volt lead-acid type, allowing Mercedes to eliminate a second backup battery and save 44 pounds overall.
The S63 is available with some content from the S550, such as the Night View Assist Plus and the Driver Assistance Package. Electric power steering is also present with a variable steering ratio.
The S63 AMG 4Matic comes standard with lightweight19-inch wheels, but can be equipped with 20-inch wheels as well.
The S63 AMG 4Matic has a sporty look, with high-gloss black trim and unique badging on the exterior.
The 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG 4Matic is a performance-tuned variant of the 2014 S-Class, and features a 577-HP engine capable of 664 pounds-feet of torque.
