Not much is going on for Volvo this year at the New York Auto Show, but they do have their XC60 plug-in hybrid concept on display. The vehicle uses a turbocharged diesel engine to power the front wheels and an electric motor to power the rear wheels.
The front engine is rated at 280 horsepower and the electric motor has 70 horsepower.
Drivers can choose between using just the rear, the front or all-wheel-drive. These can be chosen via three buttons inside the car, labeled pure, hybrid and power.
The XC60 can go 35 miles in EV mode and has a recharging time of 3.5 hours in a standard 220-volt outlet and 7.5 hours in a 110-volt outlet.
Volvo estimates fuel economy of 105 MPGe and 50 mpg when the battery runs dry. It can go 0-60 in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. Total range is around 600 miles.
