Thomas Telesca, of Bay Shore, has been elected treasurer of the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation board of directors. He is a senior associate at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in Uniondale and a member of the firm's litigation department and international practice group.

Paul Burnett has joined Scully, Scott, Murphy & Presser, an intellectual property law firm in Garden City, as an associate. He concentrates his practice on patent prosecution and litigation. Previously, he served as an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart and Sullivan in Manhattan. He resides in Readingtown, N.J.

Denise Pavlides of Massapequa has been promoted to managing compliance attorney at Cohen & Slamowitz in Woodbury. She will be managing the day-to-day operations of the firm's compliance department. She previously served as compliance attorney.

Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid in Melville has announced the appointment of two attorneys to partner.

Steven P. Block of North Bellmore has been named chair of the trusts and estates practice group. He previously served as of counsel to the firm.

Amy Shane Silver of Woodbury joins the firm's real estate practice group. She previously served as partner at Golenbock Eiseman Assor Bell & Peskoe in Manhattan.

Kenneth Gabel of Rockville Centre has been named director of development of the New York chapter of the Israel Cancer Research Fund in Manhattan. Previously, he served as an independent consultant based in Rockville Centre.

Michael Caprara of Holbrook has been promoted to chief technology officer of The Viscardi Center in Albertson. He previously was director of information technology.

Erin Thoresen has been promoted to director of programs at Sustainable Long Island in Farmingdale. She previously was senior program coordinator. She lives in Harlem.

HOSPITALITY

Marco Fabozzi of Massapequa has been named director of food and beverage operations at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Previously, he served as the senior director of food and beverage at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis.

HEALTH CARE

Pediatric cardiologist Dr. Joel Harnick of Great Neck has joined The Center for Pediatric Specialty Care, part of the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, in Babylon. He specializes in general and interventional pediatric cardiology. He previously served as attending pediatric cardiologist at Mount Sinai Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Dr. Aaron Pinkhasov of Albertson has been named chairman of the department of behavioral health at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola. Pinkhasov most recently served as chairman of the psychiatry department at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn.
