Dr. Christine Rizk has joined Stony Brook University Medical Center as assistant professor in the department of surgery, breast division. Rizk will practice at the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center. The Mount Sinai resident practiced in the division of breast and soft tissue surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo and served as a faculty member in the department of surgery at University at Buffalo.
Solomon A. Torres has joined Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola as vice president of administration. He was director of operations for the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and lives in Hartsdale.

She held a similar position at the Manhattan law firm of Clausen Miller.
Jake Bedor has joined the Garden City law firm of Alan J. Schwartz as an associate. The Brooklyn resident recently completed a Brooklyn Law School postgraduate fellowship during which he worked in the sex crimes bureau of the Kings County district attorney's office.
Belinda Alvarez-Groneman has been named president of the board of directors at Pronto of Long Island, an outreach agency that provides food, clothes and vital serves to the needy. She is a retired Suffolk County police detective and lives in East Islip.
Douglas Roth has been promoted to senior vice president, chief administrative officer and chief financial officer at Aceto Corp. in Lake Success. He was vice president and chief financial officer and is an East Northport resident.
