BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Frank C. Trotta II has been appointed to the Stony Brook University Council, an oversight and advisory body to the college president and senior officers. The Bellport resident operates several travel businesses and publishes two niche newspapers. 

Dennis M. Kelleher has been elected New York section director of the American Water Works Association. The Centereach resident is senior vice president and director of the water resources division at H2M, a Melville-based architecture firm.

ENGINEERING
Christopher T. Labate has joined the Holtsville civil engineering consulting firm of Schneider Engineering as project manager. The Miller Place resident was a project manager at Hawkins Webb Jaeger.

HEALTH CARE
Dr. Christine Rizk has joined Stony Brook University Medical Center as assistant professor in the department of surgery, breast division. Rizk will practice at the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Care Center. The Mount Sinai resident practiced in the division of breast and soft tissue surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo and served as a faculty member in the department of surgery at University at Buffalo. 

Solomon A. Torres has joined Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola as vice president of administration. He was director of operations for the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System and lives in Hartsdale. 

LAW
The Woodbury-based law firm of Kaufman Dolowich Voluck & Gonzo announced three organization changes. Michael Zigelman has been promoted to partner. The Brooklyn resident was previously of counsel. George Meierhofer has joined the firm as partner. The Manhattan resident was a partner at Becker & Poliakoff in Manhattan. Farmingdale resident Denise Santangelo has joined the firm as an associate. She held a similar position at the Manhattan law firm of Clausen Miller. 

Jake Bedor has joined the Garden City law firm of Alan J. Schwartz as an associate. The Brooklyn resident recently completed a Brooklyn Law School postgraduate fellowship during which he worked in the sex crimes bureau of the Kings County district attorney's office. 

NONPROFIT
Belinda Alvarez-Groneman has been named president of the board of directors at Pronto of Long Island, an outreach agency that provides food, clothes and vital serves to the needy. She is a retired Suffolk County police detective and lives in East Islip

PHARMACEUTICALS
Douglas Roth has been promoted to senior vice president, chief administrative officer and chief financial officer at Aceto Corp. in Lake Success. He was vice president and chief financial officer and is an East Northport resident. 

TECHNOLOGY
Dan Dignam has been promoted to executive vice president at Everything Channel in Manhasset. The Garden City resident was senior vice president, publisher. 

Lisa Rosenblum has been promoted to executive vice president, government and public affairs, at Bethpage-based Cablevision Systems Corp., Newsday's parent company. The East Hampton resident was senior vice president, government and education.
