A beachy and energy-efficient three-bedroom, two-bath home listed for $1.65 million in Bellport Village began its life as a 1950s-era Cape Cod and was transformed into a modern barn through extensive renovations completed in 2014, its owner says.

“I used to live up the street and I saw this house for sale. . . . It looked like a great spot,” says owner Jim Wood.

To maximize energy efficiency as part of the FEMA-compliant overhaul completed in 2014, he installed a solar system that blends into the roof and designed the home for optimal ventilation and used energy-efficient lighting, insulation and timers for HVAC and lights.

A great room with high ceilings and walls of glass includes a natural gas fireplace, dining space and a kitchen with custom cabinets, white glass countertops and a large island. The great room opens to an enclosed sun porch. The master bedroom suite includes a full bath and dressing room.

Home systems include radiant heat, three-zone natural gas heat and hot water, two-zone central air and a natural gas generator. The 0.68-acre parcel has mahogany decking; a heated, in-ground saltwater pool; a fire pit; boccie court; putting green; and detached one-car garage.

The home is listed with Christine Schaeffer of Eileen A. Green Realty.
