This 1888 Massapequa Victorian, listed for $599,000, is believed to have once been used as a bed-and-breakfast-style establishment, says listing agent Jerry O’Neill of Coldwell Banker Harbor Light.
The home, on Clocks Boulevard, has nine bedrooms, three of which have access to private balconies. There is also a maid’s staircase and quarters.
“It fits into the history of the area having summer vacation houses and hotels,” O’Neill says. “Clocks Boulevard was one of the grander streets with some of the grander houses on it.”
Pocket doors separate the downstairs rooms, including the front parlor and living room, both of which feature a fireplace. The home, with 3 1⁄2 bathrooms, also features a formal dining room with a fireplace, a sunroom and a kitchen with a stainless steel stove, and an original wood-burning stove that is set in a brick enclave.
The second level offers four bedrooms, and the third has five.
The house, which O’Neill says is believed to have been built by a former Broadway actor whose stage name was Harley Merry, includes original hardwood floors and stained glass windows throughout.
The 0.38-acre waterfront property, just off Narraskatuck Creek, includes a covered front porch, a driveway portico and bulkhead.
