Actor Adam Sandler will film scenes for a new movie at a Brookville home listed for $10.9 million, says the broker listing the property.
Sandler and actress Ellen Barkin will be at the estate this weekend to work on the film, says Shawn Elliott, who owns Woodbury-based Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes & Estates.
"The Cobbler" is about a shoe repairman who enters the lives of those whose shoes he repairs, according to reports about the film. The film is also set to star Dustin Hoffman and Steve Buscemi, according to online movie reports.
Elliott says that he took scouts to see more than a dozen houses on Long Island over the course of two days. The one they chose -- a gated, newly constructed stone and stucco mansion -- has six bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and four half-baths.
It has 10-foot ceilings, radiant heat, detailed moldings, Brazilian cherry hardwood floors and solid mahogany doors, according to the listing. Outside, there is a Jacuzzi, koi pond, pool and outdoor kitchen. "It's a smart home -- everything in the home can be turned on and off with an iPhone, including the waterfalls in the pool," says Elliott.
"It's like luxury listing at its best, and that's what they were looking for," says Elliott. "It exudes wealth and opulence."
