In the spirit of the Chinese New Year — the Year of the Dragon — Long Island real estate agents from competing agencies are collaborating to mark the occasion by throwing a three-day open house extravaganza in Old Westbury.
About 20 homes priced from $1.5 million-plus to more than $10 million will be part of the event, says Mollie Grossman of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who is participating. House tours will take place at various locations from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 22; noon to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 and 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 29.
Dim sum and fortune cookies will be served at some of the homes Thursday, including this one at 2 Red Ground Rd. on the market for $2.25 million, where eats will also be served Sunday; food may be offered other days, and some houses may be decorated for the celebration.
Other agent hosts include Ellen Zipes, Lois Kirschenbaum, Margaret Trautmann and Susan Berk of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty; Michael Berman of Automatic Real Estate Associates; Simin Mahfar of Vantage Point Properties; Aileen Murstein and Robin Bender of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage; and Stuart Caspi and Anna Alyskewycz, also of Prudential.
