Lido Beach is touted as a family oriented community with easy access to Manhattan. Bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Middle Bay, Lido Beach sits on a barrier island between Point Lookout and Long Beach.
"It's kind of a Hamptons lifestyle without the commute," says resident Tom Tripodi of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
This compact community has several parks, a public golf course and Marvel Frozen Dairy, a popular ice cream stand. Lido Beach Nature Area, a 40-acre site along Lido Boulevard saved from development, is "always improving in a way that is harmonious with nature," says town spokesman Mike Deery, meaning that enhancements to it compliment the environment.
The new Malone-Mulhall Recreation Center for Camp ANCHOR, a program serving people with special needs, was recently dedicated to three counselors killed en route to summer camp nearly four years ago.
Many homeowners have recovered from superstorm Sandy, said Patricia McDonnell, owner-broker of Lido Beach Realty.
"I think the storm and the economy put a damper on the market, but it's picking up," McDonnell says. Buyers are taking advantage before prices climb, Tripodi adds.

The median price was $700,000 with a low of $450,000 and a high of $1.15 million.
