This waterfront East Hampton getaway was built for a Manhattan woodworker who crafted custom furniture for Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Jackie Gleason. It is listed for $2.295 million.

The three-bedroom, 3.5-bath home on a 0.51-acre lot was completed in 1981 as a “retirement masterpiece” for Gene Rigon and his childhood sweetheart, Elda, when they wed later in life, says owner Thomas Liebow, who purchased the home from the couple in 1999.

The 2,000-square-foot home has views of Gardiner’s Bay and Gardiner’s Island. Some can be seen from the living room, kitchen, sunroom and sun deck on the top floor, which are all part of a “huge great room,” Liebow says.

“It all faces east, and you see the most beautiful, high, commanding views over the treetops,” he says.

A first-floor bedroom has built-in headboards with compartments and looks like “a little stateroom on a boat,” Liebow says. There is also a 5-foot-by-5-foot dual-level coffee table, a dining-room chair that was built as part of a set for Gleason, and a glass-top dining room table was crafted from materials salvaged from a Wall Street bank and accessorized with local seashells.

Furniture is not part of the deal, but is available for purchase, Liebow says.

A kitchen with cathedral ceilings, a skylight and a butcher-block island features Rigon’s custom cabinets. The master bedroom suite, which has a Jacuzzi soaking tub and sauna, includes a dual-head shower. On the lower level, there is a built-in wet bar and a two-car garage. The living room has a stone fireplace.

Mature landscaping on the property includes a fig tree, a Granny Smith apple tree and blueberry bushes. There is also a heated 40-foot in-ground pool with a rear deck above it. A large bluestone patio is situated between the pool and a pool house with cathedral ceilings and nine-foot sliding glass doors.

Ownership includes membership in the Hamptons Waters community, which includes two private beaches, a deeded mooring and use of the community dock.
