The oceanfront Sagaponack home belonging to fashion designer Elie Tahari, currently on the market for $44.995 million, is available as a summer rental.

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home, which sits on 2.5 acres, is available from Memorial Day to Labor Day for $1 million, says Keith Green of Sotheby’s International Realty, who is representing the property along with Ann Ciardullo.

The 4,500-square-foot house, which Green says has been rented for the previous two summers at close to $1 million, was remodeled from a century-old barn in 1998.

The great room, with 20-foot ceilings and rustic wood beams, includes an east-facing wall of glass. Opposite one another at each side of the room are roll-up glass garage-like doors that open to the ocean on one end of the property and a 60-foot lap pool on the other. “It creates a visual allee,” Green says.

The master suite, which encompasses the entire second level, includes a bathroom and sliders that open to a sun deck overlooking the ocean.

The property, situated on a crest, includes a dining pergola and 250 feet of beachfront.

“The relationship between the home and the ocean is such that while you have immediate access down a few steps to the ocean, you also have total privacy from the people that are walking the beaches,” Green says.
