Local lore surrounds Owl Hill, a nearly 28-acre property south of Sunken Meadow State Park in Fort Salonga, on the market for just under $7 million.
The six-bedroom house was built around 1900 by a British lord after he fell in love with a Native American woman during a stop in Northport while on a sailing trip, the owner says.
He is said to have traveled the world in search of exotic woods, which he brought back to Long Island to use in the home's construction.
The house, which has several fireplaces, is filled with dark wood and has views of the grounds and many mature trees from a wraparound porch.
The property is listed with Peter Arner and Anthony Perrotta of Signature Premier Properties.
