Why it’s for sale Gerald, 67, who is semiretired from the beverage industry, and Genevieve, 65, a care coordinator at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Commack, say they want to downsize but are staying in the area.

The McNeills’ home exudes homeyness and is waiting for the next family gathering. Gerald talks about it:

“When we bought in 2002, we had a lot of family in the area, and this house is great for family gatherings. We have a big den, about 22 by 20 feet, plus a separate living room and a formal dining room. We’ve had many family affairs here like christenings, weddings and retirement and graduation parties — both inside and outdoors. There’s a large brick patio out back, and it’s very, very private property . . . There are plenty of upgrades — all new windows, a new sprinkler system, a new AC system to name a few. The eat-in kitchen was updated 10 years ago. There’s box molding on the lower walls of the foyer and dining room, as well as crown molding in all the rooms except the den. It’s a great house. If it wasn’t for our need to downsize, we’d be staying here. The taxes, for the area, are very inexpensive . . . The house is very bright and airy. We bought it from a doctor who had her own office here. . . It’s a great area for kids. The Kings Park School District is terrific, and the high school is medium size, which is nice for kids. As far as raising a family here, this area is ideal.”
