About 500 homeowners with mortgage woes have gotten free advice and help at the mortgage foreclosure consultation clinic since its opening in Nassau last year, its organizers said.
The Nassau County Bar Association will hold its next monthly clinic 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 17 at its headquarters in Mineola, on 15th and West streets. It’s for Nassau residents only. Reservations are required; call the bar at 516-747-4070.
Spanish-speaking translators, nonprofit housing counselors, attorneys and county officials will be available, along with representatives from the Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, which provides free legal services for those who meet income guidelines.
Attendees should bring copies of mortgage documents, letters from servicers and lenders, loan modification letters from the banks or federal government programs, monthly expenses or bills and any other paperwork that would help in documenting the case.
