A Northport home owned by the same family for nearly 40 years is inspired by a popular home style in France. It is on the market for $899,000.
The grandparents of the current owner got the home’s plans from a French magazine. The grandfather, a civil engineer, helped design it and brought the plans to an architect to formalize them, says listing agent Claire Ferrari of Coach Realtors. It was built in 1980.
“You see these French country homes all over France,” Ferrari says. “That’s what inspired it.”
The four-bedroom home has a mansard roof, a tiled foyer, wood moldings and 15-foot ceilings in the family room.
The property is close to Northport’s Hobart Beach and has private beach and mooring rights.
