The 2016 Hampton Designer Showhouse will open July 24 at a newly constructed home in Sag Harbor.
The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom home, in the process of being finished, has been built by Bodenchak Design & Build. It boasts a floating staircase with glass railings and a folding glass window wall system, which allows the kitchen to open up to a covered patio. The outside features gambrel roofs. Green features include a 9-kilowatt solar power system.
“We really went out of the way to put modern fun features inside,” says builder Frank Bodenchak, who will also eventually list the home for around $5 million as an agent with Saunders & Associates. “A lot of our buyers, they want modern but they want a more Hamptons-style house on the outside.”
The home also will have two master suites, with one on the first floor, a three-story foyer, an elevator, a walkout lower level, a pre-wired theater and a finished wine cellar. It is set on three acres and surrounded by 135 acres of reserve, which Bodenchak says is rare for the area.
“The Hamptons has gotten built up and the larger pieces of land are very few,” Bodenchak says. “This was a unique property because it’s three acres and it’s large enough to have a tennis court and 45-foot pool.”
In its 16th year, the show house benefits Southampton Hospital. It is open until Sept. 5 and will feature the work of more than two dozen interior designers.
