The home has been updated and remodeled within the past 10 years, Boucher says, including a new roof, new siding and new windows, as well as updates in the kitchen and bathrooms. The L-shaped ranch, which was built in 1969 and is on a dead-end street within walking distance of the shore, has a paver walkway that leads to the front porch.

The open floor plan includes wood flooring throughout, a formal dining room and a den with a wood-burning fireplace. An attached garage is on the 75-by-150-foot lot.

The house has three levels, each with a full bathroom, and three-zone heating. A formal living room, with a wood-burning fireplace, and dining room are on the main level. The first level has a living room, fireplace, bedroom and bathroom. The house is on a quarter-acre terraced lot.

EAST PATCHOGUE, 76 S. Dunton Ave., $399,000

What makes the design of this 2006 Colonial unique, says listing agent Deborah Galligan, is the flow of the floor plan from room to room. It differs from a traditional Colonial, Galligan says, due to its flexible floor plan that doesn’t have closed-off rooms of definitive space.

The entryway opens to a two-story foyer that leads into the living room, which includes a fireplace. That leads to what could be either a formal room or dining room. The house has three bedrooms and 2 1⁄2 bathrooms.

The open, eat-in kitchen offers granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, double ovens, a large range hood, tile floor and sliding glass doors. Sitting atop the 594-square-foot garage is an unfinished 297-square-foot room with a closet that, Galligan says, “can be turned into pretty much anything.”

Additional features of the home, which is set on a 100-by-83-foot lot, include gas heating, central air-conditioning and an in-ground sprinkler system.

Taxes are $11,523. Deborah Galligan, Marylou Swan Realty Corp., 631-289-5550.

FREEPORT, 268 Bedell St., $399,000

The rounded front door with an old-fashioned peephole is an indication that, in addition to its modern amenities, this 1921 Colonial has maintained some of its vintage charm, says listing agent Rob Scarito of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Inside the entryway of the four-bedroom house, which has oak flooring, is a curved catwalk that overlooks the living room and fireplace and leads to the bedrooms on the second floor.

The eat-in kitchen was redone to include new cherrywood, stainless steel appliances, and a decorative baby-blue backsplash. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet. The home, which features oak floors and gas heat, has 2 1/2 bathrooms.

Boats can dock in the backyard of the 60-by-160-foot waterfront corner lot, which is at the end of a canal.

HEMPSTEAD, 7 Hilbert St., $399,000

The enclosed front porch at this four-bedroom Colonial can be enjoyed year-round, says listing agent Simran Bajaj of Realty Connect USA, thanks to wall-to-wall windows that open to let in summer breezes or close to block the winter chill.

A brick walkway leads to the porch, which has French doors that serve as the main entryway, and a tile floor. The porch opens to a large living room and formal dining room, both with hardwood floors.

The house, which was built in 1926 and is on a cul-de-sac just north of Hempstead Turnpike, has four bedrooms with deep closets, and 1 1/2 bathrooms.

The 60-by-100-foot lot, which Bajaj says is a short distance from shopping and the Long Island Rail Road, includes a finished basement and a driveway that leads to a detached garage.

The home, one of just 28 houses in the area listed for less than $400,000 on Redfin, has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen, and hardwood floors throughout.

Originally built in 1910, the home includes a covered front porch and a full finished basement. The 50-by-100-foot property, less than a mile from Morgan Memorial Park and Hempstead Bay, also features a deep driveway and a detached, two-car garage.

The partially finished basement has one of the house’s three bathrooms and an outside entrance. The gas burner was replaced five years ago, and a new hot water heater was installed two years ago.

The 1950 home, which is on a 51-by-100-foot corner property off Peninsula Boulevard, also includes a detached, two-car garage. McConnin says the current owners were approved for a 24 percent tax grievance and expects new owners to be approved within the 24- to 29-percent range.
