Built in 2007 on a 0.63-acre parcel in Nassau Point, the house at 705 Carrington Rd. in Cutchogue features wood floors, a fireplace, moldings and recessed lighting, as well as a chef's kitchen. There are six bedrooms, and the master suite is on the main level. There are 21/2 bathrooms. It's listed for sale by Vicky Germaise and Margaret Zarcone of Douglas Elliman Real Estate for $1.199 million.
Five days. That's how long the 30-kilowatt Onan generator at this nine-room Cutchogue Victorian kept the electricity going until power was restored after superstorm Sandy. “It ran spotlessly,” says the seller, noting that he and his wife even did laundry. About 30 percent of the 500-gallon tank of propane was used for the last outage.
The generator, which switches on within 20 seconds of a power outage, hums quietly, notes the owner of the home at 705 Carrington Rd. in Cutchogue that's listed for sale for $1.199 million. It also feeds the detached, two-plus car garage, but not the attached, two-car garage. Other mechanicals include a solar hot water heater.
When the power goes out, the 15-kilowatt Generac generator in this renovated split-level home, at 27 Roxbury Rd. in Port Washington, automatically turns on. Fueled by natural gas, the generator powers essential appliances and most interior outlets. It shuts down once power is restored. The home is being listed on the sales market by Dorothy Waxman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate for $749,000.
While the generator runs once a week to charge the battery and circulate oil, the owners of the Port Washington home have it serviced every three months. Servicing includes a filter change. The sound of the machine can be compared to that of a central air-conditioning unit, the sellers say.
Other features in the Port Washington home, at 27 Roxbury Rd., include wood floors, a fireplace, new doors and new windows. The layout includes a living room and a family room off the dining room. The renovated kitchen is outfitted with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. There are three bedrooms and two new bathrooms. The lot is 60 by 100 feet.
While this 10-room Colonial, at 28 Edwards Lane in Glen Cove, is equipped with a whole-house gas-operated generator, it hasn't been hooked up yet, says the listing agent, noting it will need a city inspection. Once set up, the 20-kilowatt natural gas generator will automatically flip on in the event of a power failure. Controls are in a service panel. The home is listed on the sales market with Paul Mateyunas of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty with a $949,000 asking price.
Other amenities in the Glen Cove home include an elevator, an indoor lap pool and radiant-heat gutters, which melt snow and ice to prevent leaks. Interior features include a fireplace, wood floors, decorative moldings, French doors and built-in shelves.
The renovated kitchen is designed with white cabinets and stainless-steel appliances. There are four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half-baths. The lot, at 28 Edwards Ln. in Glen Cove, is 134 by 171 feet.
