A turn-of-the-last-century home in Islip once owned by a famed New York political family is on the market for $999,999.

Owned from 1947 to 1966 by Sen. Robert Wagner, the 6,600-square-foot house served as the summer residence for his family, including the senator's son, Robert Wagner, Jr., mayor of New York City from 1954 to 1965.

Built in 1900, the six bedroom, 3.5-bathroom Colonial home retains original details such as the wood floors, 14-foot ceilings, crown moldings, sunroom, fireplaces (each of the seven with handmade mantels), servants’ call buttons, a ballroom and a library. In a recent renovation, a sunroom was added and the kitchen was updated.

The 1.3-acre property includes an in-ground swimming pool, says Jason Furnari of Exit Realty Island Elite, who is listing the house with Bryan Elsesser.
