Nassau ranked sixth and Suffolk seventh in the state last month on the number of foreclosure-related filings compared to other households, reported RealtyTrac, an online market for foreclosures.
There was one filing for every 1,441 households in Nassau, the February data show. In Suffolk, it was one for every 1,568 households, which includes rentals, RealtyTrac said.
In New York state, the filings are lis pendens, the first legal notice that starts the foreclosure process, the notice for sale and the paperwork showing the lender has taken back the house.
