LI still in state's top 5 for foreclosure rate
One out of every 678 households in Suffolk got a foreclosure-related notice last month, while it was one out of every 1,723 in Nassau, according to RealtyTrac, which collects foreclosure data.
Those numbers once again put both counties in the state's top five in foreclosure rate. Suffolk was second and Nassau fifth.
Foreclosure-related notices include notice of pending suit, auction notice and repossession of home.
As Newsday reports today, the number of homes taken back by lenders last month went down.
