The National Association of Realtors released median sales prices for the nation’s biggest metro areas and guess who was in the top 10 highest? Yep, you didn’t need a list to know that mucho dollars are needed to buy a Long Island home.
Last year, the two counties posted the nation’s seventh-highest median sales price at $384,100, the group reported. That’s down 11.9 percent from the preceding year and 19.5 percent from 2007, when it was clear that the housing bubble had burst.
But the most expensive is on another island. Honolulu’s median sales price went from $643,500 in 2007 to $624,000 in 2008, to $596,200 last year.
