A circa 1900 Mattituck farmhouse, located on a .41-acre parcel overlooking the Osprey Dominion vineyard is for sale. It is listed for $399,000.
The 1,750-square-foot vintage home is south-facing and gets lots of natural light, says Nicholas J. Planamento, listing agent with Joan Bischoff Van Heemskerck of Town & Country Real Estate.
“The house has personality,” says Planamento.
It was renovated by owner Chad Mello, a local contractor who enjoys repurposing salvaged materials. In the updated eat-in kitchen, he used bricks cut in half for the backsplash and created the ceiling beams and countertops from reclaimed barn wood. He refurbished most of the home’s original details, including the doors and hardware, exterior light fixtures, wainscoting, wood-burning fireplace in the formal dining room and wide plank pine floors.
There are four bedrooms and one bathroom. The property also has a greenhouse structure where the floor was dug six feet into the earth to keep the interior at a constant temperature.
