Chase has opened a homeownership center in Hauppauge to help borrowers in distress.

It’s the bank’s 82nd home help center, where people can drop off paperwork for loan modifications, hear whether they’re eligible for lower payments and get a better sense of the options, from selling the home to losing it.

“We created these local homeownership centers so our borrowers can sit down and discuss their situation face-to-face with trained loan advisers in these challenging times,” said Cynthia Thompson, national manager of the Chase homeownership centers. “They are part of a wide-ranging initiative to help families stay in their homes whenever possible."

Borrowers with EMC Mortgage may also go to the center.

The center is at 360 Motor Pkwy., suite 950, and appointments can be made at 631-231-0448. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
