Mike Stromberg, linebacker for the New York Jets during the team's Super Bowl-winning 1969 season, has put his Shelter Island home on the market for $1.995 million.
The half-acre waterfront property has four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, three fireplaces and a separate guest cottage.
“When we bought this house, it was basically a weekend home, but when we moved to Shelter Island full-time, my wife and I renovated it and factored in some of the things we enjoy -- a dock, gardens and a master suite media room with a wet bar and outdoor deck," Stromberg says. "We’re empty-nesters now, and the house is suddenly too large for us."
Stromberg has kept up with some of his former teammates, including running back Emerson Boozer of Huntington, who has visited his home for some fishing, relaxing by the pool and playing a few rounds of golf.
Penelope Moore, senior vice president of The Corcoran Group in Shelter Island, is handling the listing.
