This three-bedroom Cape, on the market for $279,000, has been in the same hands -- those of a lifelong Patchogue native -- since it was built in 1951.

Bill Corley, 85, a retired Verizon worker and retired volunteer firefighter with the Vanguards in Patchogue, handcrafted many of the home’s architectural details to create a “sweet, countrified-seaside effect,” says listing agent Debra Remien of Coldwell Banker M&D Good Life.

“He laid the hardwood floors in the house himself with the oak and pegs,” she says. “The moldings are amazing. There’s scrolled woodwork and seashore cutouts.”

The .34-acre property is located in the Patchogue school district. The home has 1½ bathrooms, an eat-in kitchen and a fireplace.
