The owner of a two-bedroom cottage on Richmond Creek in Peconic listed for $899,000 will leave several decades of family memories behind when she sells the home.
Pat Lawther says she hopes the buyer will turn her “rustic little gem” into a family compound, noting that the property includes a move-in ready main cottage as well as a detached garage and a second, smaller cottage that “needs some work” but is zoned as a legal residence.
In addition to creek views and being close to local beaches, the property is surprisingly secluded, Lawther adds.
“When boats get into the bay from Richmond Creek, the channel is all the way on the other side, by Sag Harbor, so it’s peaceful. It’s a very quiet area for boating and water skiing,” she says.
The main cottage was built in 1950. Highlights include a large, enclosed porch facing the water, two full bathrooms, central air conditioning, a fireplace and hardwood floors.
Listing agent Kristen Rishe of North Fork Real Estate says the feeling of privacy is enhanced by a long driveway off a quiet street. “It’s on half an acre, and you don’t really even see the neighbors,” she says.
Annual taxes currently are $9,500.
