'ELOISE’ LORE. A Roslyn Village house that was the childhood home of Hilary Knight, illustrator of the “Eloise” children’s book series, is on the market for $1.299 million.
The 11-room house, built in 1898, has four bedrooms and 2½ baths. There is a pond in the backyard.

Listing agent Hope Hassouni of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty describes the grounds as a “romantic setting” with a patio, veranda and balcony at the rear of the house overlooking a garden and pond. Other features in the four-story home include an eat-in kitchen, formal dining room, open double parlor and two fireplaces.

SO GAME. There’s nothing square about this hexagonal Mediterranean Revival mansion in Westhampton Beach. The 12-room stucco residence, built in 1890, is on the market for $5.95 million. Surrounded by hedges, the grounds measure just under 2 acres and include a formal Italianate garden, seven outdoor garden “rooms,” a 50-foot heated pool, a tennis court and a 70-by-90-foot croquet lawn.

The homeowner, a Championship-level player who will be inducted in the U.S. Croquet Hall of Fame this year, uses the lawn for practice and hosting tournaments. The main house has five bedrooms, 3½ baths, a living room with the original wood-burning brick fireplace, formal dining room, den and eat-in kitchen.

A separate guest cottage on the property has 2 bedrooms and 1½ baths. The property is listed with the Enzo Morabito team at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
