Documentary filmmaker Rory Kennedy has sold her Shelter Island home, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.
The shingled two-story home, built in 1994, sold for $2.967 million. It has four bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, two fireplaces and a heated gunite pool with hot tub. The 1.6-acre waterfront property on Coecles Harbor includes a dock and separate mooring and float.
Listing agent Penelope Moore of The Corcoran Group would not comment on the sale.
Kennedy’s former home is close to one purchased last year by designers Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan and is in close proximity to Paard Hill Farm, which is co-owned by Norman Lear’s daughter Ellen.
Kennedy is the youngest daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy. Records show she purchased the home in 1998. In 1999, rumors swirled that she would marry then-fiancee Mark Bailey on Shelter Island after the death of her cousin John in a plane crash caused the cancellation of her planned nuptials in Hyannis Port, Mass. The couple later married in Greece.
