Home foreclosure filings in Nassau County continue to be among the highest in New York State. To help residents caught in the growing mortgage foreclosure crisis, volunteer attorneys will be available to answer questions at a free clinic May 9 sponsored by the Nassau County Bar Association.
The event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at organization's headquarters at 15th and West streets, in Mineola.
Attorneys have volunteered to provide one-on-one guidance, advice and direction to any Nassau homeowner concerned about foreclosure matters or is already in the foreclosure process involving property in the county.
Reservations are required by calling 516-747-4070. Attendees are asked to bring their mortgage documents to the clinic. Bilingual attorneys fluent in Spanish, Creole and Russian will be on site. Attorneys bilingual in Korean, Chinese, Hindi and other languages will be made available upon request when homeowners call to make reservations.
